College sports governing authority the National Collegiate Athletic Association has come out with full-throated support of men claiming to be women competing against natural-born women in college sports.
The NCAA says “firmly and unequivocally supports” transgender athletes playing in whatever category they feel like choosing.
In its Monday statement, the NCAA said that they support “fair competition”… despite that whenever men claiming to be women compete against real women, the real women lose nearly every time.
“The NCAA Board of Governors firmly and unequivocally supports the opportunity for transgender student-athletes to compete in college sports. This commitment is grounded in our values of inclusion and fair competition,” the statement read.
The group added that they follow medical requirements similar to those used by the Olympics.
“Inclusion and fairness can coexist for all student-athletes, including transgender athletes, at all levels of sport. Our clear expectation as the Association’s top governing body is that all student-athletes will be treated with dignity and respect,” the NCAA added.
The statement concluded:
When determining where championships are held, NCAA policy directs that only locations where hosts can commit to providing an environment that is safe, healthy, and free of discrimination should be selected. We will continue to closely monitor these situations to determine whether NCAA championships can be conducted in ways that are welcoming and respectful of all participants.
The NCAA’s statement comes on the tale of a growing number of states either considering or passing laws to limit transgender athletes to competing only in categories corresponding to their birth gender.
