According to a report at Just The News, the coronavirus numbers are unreliable because the states are purposefully inflating the numbers.
The particular problem is that the various states are conflating those who are sick directly because of the coronavirus with those who are claimed to be hospitalized with coronavirus “related” causes.
Hospitalizations have been claimed to be a leading indicator of the rise in the virus. But are the numbers we keep hearing correct? According to the report, they are very misleading.
Per Just The News:
Yet many, if not most, states are failing to make the distinction between patients hospitalized because of COVID-19 versus those who simply test positive for the disease while hospitalized for something else, according to a Just the News survey of state health departments.
That data would provide a fuller picture of both the pandemic and its toll on local medical systems. Yet state public health officials consistently told Just the News that their respective health departments do not track that data.
“The number posted [on the state’s dashboard] is for hospitalized patients, so those numbers represent people who are being treated for COVID-19 in an inpatient setting,” Elizabeth Goodsitt, a spokeswoman with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, said according to the site. “There may be other things going on with them, but they are included in that number if they are COVID-19 positive and admitted to the hospital for care.”
Indeed, nearly every other state is the same. The real data is not being reported.
Just The News goes on who a long report showing that the states are failing to publish proper reports so that the actual extent of the virus can be seen.
Conflating these numbers gives a false impression of where the nation is with this virus. But that is exactly what the left wants. They don’t want the truth to be known.
