Trump Speaks Out About Potential Roy Moore Senatorial Campaign

Earlier this week, Rep. Bradley Byrne from the state of Alabama — who is running for Senate in 2020) recently stated that he heard from multiple GOP sources that failed Republican senatorial candidate Roy Moore, who lost a special election in 2017 due to a scandal about inappropriate sexual interactions with young women, is gearing up for another run at the office.

President Trump decided to weigh in on this and what he had to say wasn’t exactly supportive.

The report, and Moore’s taunting response, sparked a series of strong warnings and rebukes from Republicans, including Donald Trump Jr., who tweeted, “You mean like last time? You’re literally the only candidate who could lose a GOP seat in pro-Trump, pro-USA ALABAMA. Running for office should never become a business model. If you actually care about #MAGA more than your own ego, it’s time to ride off into the sunset, Judge.”

“Republicans cannot allow themselves to again lose the Senate seat in the Great State of Alabama. This time it will be for Six Years, not just Two,” Trump wrote in a pair of tweets. “I have NOTHING against Roy Moore, and unlike many other Republican leaders, wanted him to win. But he didn’t, and probably won’t…..”

Trump then urged Moore to put the conservative agenda, particularly the pro-life cause, ahead of his personal ambitions: “If Alabama does not elect a Republican to the Senate in 2020, many of the incredible gains that we have made during my Presidency may be lost, including our Pro-Life victories. Roy Moore cannot win, and the consequences will be devastating….Judges and Supreme Court Justices!”

Many folks in the Republican Party are urging Moore not to run, and you know, they’re absolutely right. Whether or not Moore actually did what he’s being accused of at this point is irrelevant. The damage to his reputation is already done and lots of folks don’t trust him.

If he runs, he’ll hurt the race, especially if he becomes the GOP nominee.

Now, it’s sort of a double standard for the left to complain about Moore while allowing Joe Biden to get handsy with women and young girls on national television, but we’re supposed to be above these folks. To own the moral high ground.

That’s impossible to do when folks like Moore keep trying to go for office with all of the baggage hanging around their necks.

Time for him to hang it up and move on.
