North Carolina Man ‘Abandons’ Pet Fish, Now He’s Facing Charges

It’s official, folks. We now live in a society that attributes animals with more intrinsic value and worth than human beings, which just goes to prove how true the Bible really is when it mentions mankind opting to worship animals and created things rather than God.

A man in New Hanover County, North Carolina was arrested and is being charged with animal cruelty for neglecting and abandoning his pet fish.

Gee, if only he had abandoned a human newborn who survived an abortion procedure, he’d have been let off the hook.

Michael Hinson, 53, was charged with three counts of misdemeanor cruelty to animals and one count of abandonment of an animal, for allegedly leaving his Oscar fish behind when he was evicted from his home on March 22, WECT-TV reported. Hinson was taken into custody and released on a $4,000 unsecured bond.

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office discovered the fish during an inspection of the home and noticed it appeared to be in poor health and had a dirty tank. They sent the Oscar to be nursed back to health at the Fish Room. It will be put up for adoption after it is fully recovered from a parasite that can be fatal if left untreated.

Ethan Lane of the Fish Room told WECT that Oscar fish “are great pets,” explaining, “We call them wet pets. They are very trainable, they have huge personalities, some of them can be aggressive.”

You’re probably thinking this is totally absurd, but it gets even worse. The police apparently are totally behind the arrest and charge.

Lt. Jerry Brewer, a spokesman for the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office said that Hinson is the first person they’ve charged with animal cruelty toward a fish, noting though that this fish is still a life, just like a cat or a dog.

Look, no one will likely disagree that the guy didn’t treat this animal with the kindness he should have. That much is pretty obvious.

The ridiculous aspect of this story comes from the fact the guy is facing criminal charges over it. Pretty serious ones actually. Is this really a crime worthy of stiff penalties?

What really is intriguing about this story is the juxtaposition of how folks treat unborn children versus how they treat animals.

The point made earlier about abandoning a child who survives an abortion so they die is something that really happens and it’s something folks on the left are actually fighting to keep legal.

Mankind, unlike this fish, is made in the image of God. Mankind has value, dignity, ect., because of being an image bearer of the Creator. We were commanded to have dominion over the animals of this world. We are higher life forms, period.

Yet, for some strange reason, people would rather save animals than rescue our most vulnerable citizens, the unborn. Why? Because people have suppressed the truth of God and exchanged it for a lie.

It’s truly tragic.
