Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell stated on Tuesday that the GOP fully intends to allow a vote on the “Green New Deal,” a disastrously bad — and poorly written — piece of legislation that basically amounts to a massive government takeover of pretty much everything.
This announcement sent Democrats into a panic, as most of them know that the legislation, created by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, will all but spell the end, no only of our republic, but their political careers as well.
Their response to McConnell has made them an object of scorn and mockery.
“I’ve noted with great interest the Green New Deal,” McConnell said. “And we’re going to be voting on that in the Senate. Give everybody an opportunity to go on record and see how they feel about the Green New Deal.”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, claimed that McConnell allowing a vote on the bill was Republicans’ way of secretly “sabotaging” it.
“Don’t let Mitch McConnell fool you: this is nothing but an attempt to sabotage the movement we are building,” Markey tweeted. “He wants to silence your voice so Republicans don’t have to explain why they are climate change deniers. McConnell wants this to be the end, this is just the beginning.”
“This isn’t a new Republican trick,” Markey continued. “By rushing a vote on the #GreenNewDeal resolution, Republicans want to avoid a true national debate & kill our efforts to organize. We’re having the first national conversation on climate change in a decade. We can’t let Republicans sabotage it.”

The Green New Deal was widely mocked the moment Ocasio-Cortez and her team published details about the proposal, which Manhattan Institute Senior Fellow Brian Riedl estimated could cost up to approximately $100 trillion.
How do we cost
-Replacing 250M gas vehicles? ($7T?)
-Killing most of 200k aircraft?
-Replacing military jets?
-High speed rail everywhere?
-Upgrade/replace 120M buildings?
-All the R&D? Installing renewables everywhere? No idea…but must be heading towards $100 trillion. (2/

Here is some of the mockery Democrats received for their hysteria:
Climate Change is an existential threat to humanity and our way of life. We have put forward our plan to save global humanity & Mitch McConnell is sabotaging it by putting it to a vote publish tweet https://t.co/9gMeE3Bu4B

I really don’t think McConnell is even attempted to fool anyone here https://t.co/U3mK3x0j5g

A Democrat is mad at McConnell for allowing a vote on a bill that was literally proposed by Democrats.
Cocaine Mitch really earned his title with this play. https://t.co/tAVgNuLtUK

McConnell wants to silence Democrats by asking them to pass the bill they support. Only, it’s not actually a bill — just a vague, inspirational memo of sorts (and FAQs that were deleted and replaced when they were mocked). And most Dems don’t support it. https://t.co/SGyAqovrI9

What’s wrong with rushing? AOC tells us it’s urgent. https://t.co/YZGaNXHDF1

Don’t let Ed Markey or @AOC fool you: the Green New Deal is nothing but an embrace of central planning at the expense of individual liberty. It’s not about climate change. It’s about a change in the relationship between the American citizen and the State. https://t.co/YIWVDDcNip

This is vintage Markey. Like in 2003 when he demanded a hearing on his ANWR bill, but refused to show up at the hearing Resources held in ANWR, then declared the issue dead, only to bring up the bill a few weeks later. (I still have a pic of his empty chair somewhere…) https://t.co/fBkokYYUVa

Wait — Mitch McConnell is sabotaging your movement by putting your marquee piece of legislation on the Senate floor for a vote?
Okey dokey. https://t.co/kJ1N99NbPU

In other words, these folks know this is an absolutely horrid idea, which is why they don’t want to actually vote on it and put their money where their mouths are.
This should really be eye opening for the less intelligent, more idealistic folk in the Democratic Party. No one is actually interested in pushing your insane radical agenda. They only want to appear like they care and support it so as to keep voters happy and keep their government seats where they can grow rich off the teat of the American taxpayer.
It’s too bad the youngsters on the left refuse to see how reality really works. Maybe if they did, they would come up with actual solutions to the real problems Americans face every day.
