The president of the Houston Police Officers’ Union did not hold back in a recent speech he delivered at a press conference after the shooting of four police officers who were delivering a narcotics warrant on the southeast side of the city.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is the kind of talk our current police hating culture absolutely needs to hear right now.
During a press conference early Monday evening outside Memorial Hermann Hospital, Joe Gamaldi put anyone caught stirring anti-law enforcement rhetoric in the community on notice.
Gamaldi said while we live in the greatest city in the world, there are some who are fostering resentment against police in Houston.
“Enough is enough. If you’re the ones out there spreading the rhetoric that police officers are the enemy, well just know we’ve all got your number now,” Gamaldi said. “We’re going to be keeping track on all of y’all, and we’re going to make sure to hold you accountable every time you stir the pot on our police officers.”
Being a police officer is a tough, thankless job. Men and women put their lives on the line each and every day to go out in the community and work to keep our city streets safe from thugs, miscreants, and never-do-wells who want to strip away our peace, harm our families, and steal what we work for.
They leave the house each day not knowing if they’re going to return home or not. Most of us never have that thought in the morning when we wake up. Cops do. That’s a hard way to live.
Our local law enforcement officers deserve respect and honor for doing a difficult job, particularly in our current political climate. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
