Sessions Tries to Respond to Trump Criticism

In a post earlier today, I shared that President Donald Trump had criticized Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

In his criticism, Trump declared that Sessions has never taken full control of the Department of Justice.

Trump was referring to the constant stonewalling member of Congress constantly get with their request for documents from the DOJ.

Sessions said he took control the day he was sworn in.

Sessions pointed to the many things the DOJj has been doing but did not allude the stonewalling of Congress.

He also said that the DOJ will not improperly influenced by politics referring to Trump’s threat of ordering the DOJ to comply with all congressional requests.

(Fox News) – Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired back Thursday at President Trump for saying he “never took control of the Justice Department,” putting out a sharp statement vowing the agency won’t be “improperly influenced” by politics.

Trump made the comments in a wide-ranging interview with “Fox & Friends.” The president, on the heels of the first guilty verdict from a trial connected to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe, continued to fume over Sessions’ recusal from the Russia investigation.

“Jeff Sessions never took control of the Justice Department, and it’s a sort of an incredible thing,” Trump claimed.

But Sessions countered in a written statement:

“I took control of the Department of Justice the day I was sworn in, which is why we have had unprecedented success at effectuating the President’s agenda—one that protects the safety and security rights of the American people, reduces violent crime, enforces our immigration laws, promotes economic growth, and advances religious liberty.” …

Not only has Trump been disappointed with Sessions, especially after he recused himself from Russian investigations, but so have members of Congress.

Some members of Congress who have been stonewalled by the DOJ, believe that loyal Obamanites are still working in the DOJ and doing whatever they can to obstruct any investigations into any Democrats.

I recall hearing one politician commenting that if Sessions can’t control his people and make them do their job, then Trump needs to find someone who will.
