For over a year, President Donald Trump has offered to meet with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, but Kim has refused. Instead, he escalated his nuclear weapon and ballistic missile programs until he attained his goal having the ability to launched a nuclear armed intercontinental ballistic missile to any location within the mainland United States.
Kim shocked the world by offering peace just prior to the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea. When Trump again offered to meet and talk with Kim, Kim again refused, but after a delegation from South Korea met with Kim, they brought back Kim’s offer to sit down and talk with Trump.
(Fox News) – The decision to meet with Kim Jong Un in the coming weeks was one that President Donald Trump made “himself,” U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Friday, attributing the move to a “dramatic” change in posture by the North Korean leader.
“President Trump has said for some time that he was open to talks and he would willingly meet with Kim when conditions were right,” Tillserson said during a visit to the African nation of Djibouti. “And I think in the president’s judgment that time has arrived now.”
According to Tillerson, the U.S. has seen a shift in Kim from “not just willingness but really his desire for talks.”
Kim Jong Un talked about denuclearization with the South Korean Representatives, not just a freeze. Also, no missile testing by North Korea during this period of time. Great progress being made but sanctions will remain until an agreement is reached. Meeting being planned!
Knowing Kim’s daring reputation of assassinations, hopefully, this meeting will not take place in North Korea, but at some neutral location where the Secret Service and US military will be able to provide adequate security measures to protect President Donald Trump.
