Barack Obama’s administration did deport some illegals, more as a token gesture to show conservatives he was doing something about illegal immigration. His deportation didn’t come close to matching the number of illegals he not only allowed into the country, but strived to give them legal protection and some form of status to stay here.

Another sign of how lax Obama’s immigration policies were, were seen when his administration regularly released thousands of illegals from detention centers, many of which were convicted criminals, who by Obama’s own words, were the ones he promised to deport. Consider this report made in 2015:

“In 2014, a Judicial Watch lawsuit forced the release of 76 pages of DHS documents revealing that, as of April 26, 2014, the Obama administration had released 165,900 convicted criminal aliens throughout the United States, including many convicted of such violent crimes as homicide, sexual assault, kidnapping, and aggravated assault. The reports we had at that time also showed that ICE had released another 30,000 in the most recent fiscal year, which brought the grand total of known criminals released by the Obama administration to 195,900. That number – and the attendant threat to the safety of you and every other American – is clearly on the rise.”

The Obama administration tried to convince everyone that there was nothing they could do about releasing so many illegals, because the countries of origin were refusing to take their citizens back, so Obama just released them to prey upon the American people. Some people said that the Obama administration should forcibly return illegal citizens to their home countries, if need be, but that never happened.

The Trump administration is facing some of the same hurdles in trying to return many illegals to their home countries – the countries don’t want them back and refuse to accept them. The reason for their denials are most likely due to some of the illegals being criminals (what country would want criminals returned to them), but it’s speculated that the biggest reason is that most of these illegals are poor and their nations don’t want to have to care for them.

Regardless of why other countries are refusing to take their people back, President Donald Trump announced that he has a solution:

“In a meeting with State Department, Defense Department, and Homeland Security officials, Trump promised to put tariffs on the goods of countries and sanction others that refused their nationals in an ‘America First’ initiative that past administrations under President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama failed to implement.”

“Trump said:”

‘But if they don’t take them back, we’ll put sanctions on the countries. We’ll put tariffs on the countries. They’ll take them back so fast your head will spin. We’ll just tariff their goods coming in, and they’ll take them back in two seconds. You have a lot of people from those countries, and they’ll take them back. [Emphasis added]”

“We’ve had a very weak policy. We bring them back; they say, ‘We don’t want them.’ And why should they? They killed five people. Why would they want them? And we will do something with regard to sanctions and tariffs, where they will — your head will spin how fast they get taken back. Okay? Every country is the same.”

Trump’s plan to place tariffs on the goods from these nations will certainly get a lot of opposition from Democrats and the mainstream media and most likely, some Obama-appointed judge will try to block the tariffs, that block should be short lived.

Wouldn’t it be great to see about 11 million fewer illegal aliens in the country in a few years? It would save US taxpayers about $100 billion a year, the annual cost incurred by illegals.
