The Broadway musical Hamilton was wildly popular, mostly among liberals, but many of us thought it was nothing more than an attempt to make white historical figures appear black. Like it or not, Alexander Hamilton was white as were those associate with him.

A high school in New York was planning on producing a musical on the Hunchback of Notre Dame, until an unhappy group declared that giving the lead role of Esmeralda to a white girl was racist. They felt the lead role should have gone to a black American student instead, even though the character in Victor Hugo’s novel was a gypsy, which were NOT black. Consequently, the school cancelled the production.

(Constitution.com) – Ithaca High School in Ithaca, New York, has officially canceled its school musical because a white girl was “outrageously” awarded the role of a “character of color” in the production and student activists threatened the school with charges of “racism.”

Calling themselves “Students United Ithaca,” the group of students succeeded in shutting down the school’s production of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” after a white girl was given the role of Esmeralda, the gypsy girl who becomes the love interest of the doomed Hunchback, Quasimodo.

The students were apparently incensed that the role of Esmeralda was to be played by a white girl instead of going to a “student of color.” In his 1831 classic, Author Victor Hugo originally wrote the character of Esmeralda as a Romani Gypsy girl. But the students apparently decided that the character should not be portrayed by a white person…

Why is it that black activists are the ones perpetuating the racial hatred and divide in America? They insist on turning everything black as if it somehow changes history. What would they do if Roots or the Color Purple were performed with white characters? It’s okay to have black American portray whites, but not okay for whites to portray blacks.
