Many conservatives have been outraged at the judicial travesty that happened last week in San Francisco when a jury of liberal Democrats set an illegal alien free by not convicting him for the shooting death of Kathryn (Kate) Steinle in 2015.

There was no doubt in anyone’s mind that the illegal did shoot Steinle in the back, killing her. When she collapsed on the pier, her father knelt over her and Kate looked up at her father and begged him to help her as the life faded from her. He tried performing CPR on his daughter but to no avail. The illegal was on trial for first or second-degree murder or involuntary manslaughter, but jury refused to convict the illegal of any of the three charges. The only thing the illegal was found guilty of was possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

President Trump tweeted his outrage over the verdict, which was a complete mockery of justice. He blamed it on the city being a sanctuary city. Former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly went on the radio and said that the illegal only pulled the trigger, but that Kate Steinle was killed by the liberal politics of San Francisco and their willful refusal to obey federal immigration laws or cooperate with federal immigration officials.

Rep. Todd Rokita (R-IN) has announced his intention of introducing a bill into the House that would allow politicians and officials who shelter illegal aliens to face fines and/or prison time. According to Fox News:

“A Republican congressman plans to introduce a bill Monday that would threaten huge fines and prison time for elected officials accused of sheltering illegal immigrant criminals from deportation, in the wake of the not-guilty verdict in the Kate Steinle murder trial.”

“Indiana Rep. Todd Rokita’s bill is one of the most aggressive pieces of legislation to date aimed at sanctuary city policies, going beyond the Justice Department’s threat to cut off grants to those jurisdictions.”

“His ‘Stopping Lawless Actions of Politicians (SLAP) Act’ would hold state and local lawmakers criminally responsible for refusing to comply with federal immigration enforcement efforts. The Republican’s bill would subject violators to a $1 million fine and up to five years in prison if they are convicted.”

Rokita told Fox News:

“Politicians don’t get to pick and choose what laws to comply with. Americans are dying because politicians sworn to uphold the law refuse to do so.”

“It’s time the federal government gets serious about enforcing immigration laws and holding politicians accountable who conspire to break them.”

It’s sad that so many of our lawmakers have no concept about some of the basic fundamentals of America’s legal system.

How many times have you heard of someone who had knowledge of a crime and did nothing to stop it, faced with criminal charges? It’s known as being complicit, which is defined as:

“Associated with or participating in a questionable act or crime, having complicity.”

“Involved with others in reprehensible or illegal activity.”

In other words, if you do anything that helps someone commit a crime, you are complicit with that crime and could face criminal charges.

Therefore, if anyone offers protection to illegal aliens, they are being complicit to the crimes of illegal immigration of every illegal alien seeking protection in their jurisdiction. Instead of trying to pass a law that will certainly face stiff legal opposition before liberal judges who will rule it unconstitutional for political reasons only, all that needs to be done is for the Justice Department to enforce the laws already on the books and then holding every city, county, and state official who votes for and enforces sanctuary status for illegals, complicit for every single illegal they are protecting. Once they begin arresting, charging and convicting these anti-American officials, it will quickly put an end to sanctuary cities, counties and states.
