Jose Zarate shot and killed Kathryn (Kate) Steinle who died in her father’s arms. He claimed it was an accident and that he just happened to find a gun and when looking at it, the gun fired, striking the young woman in the back. Her father testified that she looked up at him and asked him to help just before the life bled out of her. He tried performing CPR, but his daughter died.

The jury made up of San Francisco bleeding-heart liberals found Zarate not guilty in the death of Steinle, not even on an involuntary manslaughter charge. The illegal alien though he was pretty much home free, but Attorney General Jeff Sessions says otherwise and has sunk the full weight of the Justice Department on Zarate and is charging him with every possible crime associated with his killing Steinle.

(The Blaze) – The Department of Justice announced Tuesday that it would be pressing additional charges against Jose Garcia Zarate, the illegal alien who killed Kate Steinle, after he was found not guilty of murder Thursday.

What is the Department of Justice doing?

The DOJ hit Zarate with new immigration and weapons charges that applied as a result of the verdict handed down by a San Francisco jury in the case.

Although the jury exonerated Zarate of murder charges, they found him guilty of felony possession of a firearm, and of “being an alien illegally and unlawfully in the United States” in possession of a gun.

Is what the DOJ did legal? …

Some legal experts say that the reason the jury acquitted Zarate on the murder charges is that the bullet ricocheted before striking Steinle, but that does not explain why they acquitted him on the lesser charge of involuntary manslaughter, still holding him accountable for her death. Hopefully, by the time the DOJ is through with Zarate he will have died in prison which is where he belongs.
