House Committee Filing Contempt of Congress Charges Against Top FRBI and DOJ Officials

One problem with a new political administration taking over the government after eight years of being run by the opposite political party is all of the political holdouts that are still loyal to the previous administration and political party. They will use whatever tactics they can to obstruct the new administration and political party from accomplishing anything and that seems to be the case with certain officials still in the FBI and Department of Justice.

Rep. Devin Nunes, (R-CA) Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee has requested numerous documents as part of the committee’s investigation into the Russia-Trump allegations. Those requests were made months ago with a deadline of this past Monday, but the documents have yet to be delivered, resulting in possible contempt of Congress allegations.

The delays are believed to be due to Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

(Washington Examiner) – The House Intelligence Committee on Tuesday will begin writing a resolution holding top FBI officials in contempt of Congress after the agency missed a Monday deadline to turn over key evidence the committee has been seeking for months.

“We are moving forward with the contempt resolution,” House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., told the Washington Examiner Tuesday morning. He added that the panel is still negotiating with FBI and Justice Department officials to get the requested documents.

Nunes has accused the FBI and Department of Justice of a “months-long pattern … of stonewalling and obstructing this committee’s oversight work.”

Those accusations boiled over during the weekend, after stories were leaked to the New York Times and Washington Post saying that FBI agent Peter Strzok, a key investigator in the Trump-Russian probe, was removed from the Russia probe after exchanging text messages critical of Trump to another FBI agent he was involved with romantically. Republicans had been seeking information about why he was removed, but were never told anything by FBI or Justice Department directly…

I hope that Nunes carries out the plan file contempt charges against the FBI and DOJ holdouts. This would send a clear message to others that they are not going to tolerate their delay tactics used to obstruct justice. If only someone would nail Obama for obstruction of justice for when he ordered the prosecution of two members of the New Black Panthers to be dropped by Eric Holder’s Justice Department.
