The US Constitution and all of it’s amendments are not just for a certain class, ethnic group, age, religion or sex, but it applies to all American citizens. With that said, it seems that more and more Muslim Americans are exercising their 2nd Amendment rights to bear arms.

I know I’ve written that Islam in general is a violent religion, but if we start selecting which Americans can and cannot exercise their constitutional rights based upon their religion, then we have completely undermined the legal foundation of our country.

Just as many of us want a firearm for self-protection in today’s violent society, so do many Muslims, only they speak of an additional fear, the one from some Americans who categorize them all as terrorists.

(Keep and Bear) –   In a new video for Fusion, Dan Lieberman speaks with a couple of Syrian-American families who are worried about the negative public perception of legally armed American Muslims.

During the video the crew visits a Florida gun shop who became infamous for turning their gun store into a “Muslim-free zone.” “What about Muslims who are scared, how do Muslims protect themselves?” the gun store owner is asked in the video. “With a different gun store,” he replied.

While I don’t support the gun owners unwillingness to sell to law abiding Americans, I do appreciate that he understands that Muslims do have the right to purchase a firearm for self-defense (he just wants them to do it elsewhere)…

There are many peace-loving Muslims just as there are many violent non-Muslims in America. The interesting thing is that most Muslims identify as Democrats when Democrats are the ones trying to strip away all of our 2nd Amendment rights. They need to realize that Republicans have fought long and hard to protect 2nd Amendment rights.
