Today is Veteran’s Day and we need to make sure we take time to not just celebrate a holiday, but honor and give thanks to EVERY man and woman who has served in any of the branches of the US military.
The first celebration of November 11 was in 1919 when it was called Armistice Day. This was the day, the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918, when the Armistice with Germany officially took effect, officially ending World War. On this day in 1919, President Woodrow Wilson addressed the nation to honor the one-year celebration of the Armistice with Germany.
Armistice Day was renamed Veteran’s Day in 1954 with the purpose of honoring veterans of our military. This is different than Memorial Day when we honor the brave men and women who died while in the military service of our country. Today, we honor the veterans, those that survived their service, although many were severely wounded.
In today’s America, many people look down on our military men and women and care less whether or not anyone once served in the military. Those that are like this fail to realize that they owe everything to our veterans and to those who died. If it weren’t for our veterans, the liberal ingrates would not have the freedoms they so readily abuse. They wouldn’t have the rights that they also abuse and strip others of having.
Whenever they take to the streets in protest, they owe that ability to our veterans. Whenever they hold up signs condemning the government, they owe that right to our veterans. Whenever they post harsh criticism against our government or politicians including President Donald Trump, they owe that right to our veterans. When neo-com ultra-left media outlets like CNN, MSNBC, CBS and others, twist and distort the truth and even print fake news stories for the purpose of smearing and slandering someone like President Trump, they owe that right to our veterans.
While so many of our young people are partying their way through college, they owe that ability to the thousands of young men and women their age, who devoted those same college years to serving our nation and protecting the rights and freedoms that are being trampled upon.
For those who take life more seriously and are not part of the neo-com Democrat protesters, they owe their ability to get an education, or find a good paying job or even starting their own business, they owe that right to our veterans.
When you sign a mortgage for your own home, get the keys and move in, you owe that right to our veterans. When you take your kids to school or watch them leave the house for school, you owe that right to our veterans.
When you open your checking and savings accounts and make investments for your future and the future of your family, you owe that ability to our veterans. When you get older and retire, you owe that ability to our veterans.
Do you get the idea yet? Everything we have and do here in America we owe to our veterans. They are the reason we still have free elections, freedoms of speech and religion (even though these freedoms are being lost at an alarming rate), the right to a trial by jury, the protection of illegal search and seizures, and the right not to incriminate yourself.
So please take time today to honor and thank every veteran you know and even those you don’t know. Tell them how thankful you are and how much you appreciate their service and sacrifice to our nation and the American people.
Without our veterans, we just may be just like the people in suppressed nations like Haiti, Cuba, Venezuela, Sudan, Yemen, Iran, China, Russia and North Korea.
