Islamic terrorist organizations will stoop to any level to make enough money to fund their cruelty. In Afghanistan, the Taliban is still quite powerful in certain areas and they fund their brutality by raising opium poppies, processing and selling the opium on the world market. It is estimated that the Taliban makes at least $200 million a year off of the illegal drug trade.

In an effort to weaken the Taliban, the US military has begun targeting the opium production facilities in Afghanistan. It is estimated that the Taliban has close to 500 drug labs in the country and so far, they have destroyed 10 and plan to continue to target more.

(Washington Free Beacon) – U.S. and Afghan forces have conducted more than two-dozen joint airstrikes against opium production facilities in Afghanistan under a new campaign to target Taliban financing, the top U.S. general in the country said Monday.

Army Gen. John Nicholson said the Sunday night assaults against drug labs in Afghanistan’s southern Helmand province will continue in the coming days. Nicholson said the Taliban makes at least $200 million a year through opium production.

The Pentagon aired videos at a press conference of the raids involving American B-52s and an F-22 bomber annihilating insurgent opium factories. Nicholson said U.S. and Afghan troops have taken out 10 of the estimated 400-to-500 drug facilities in the country…

I remember in Vietnam, we dropped napalm on areas of the countryside which burned everything in sight. Perhaps we need to be using similar like napalm or tankers filled with Round-Up to destroy the poppy fields. No poppies, no opium and no money. Once their money is choked off, they won’t be nearly as powerful and well-armed, making them easier to destroy, if that is possible.
