Mitch McConnell and many other Republicans ran campaigns that made many promises, including repealing and replacing Obamacare. When they were re-elected and placed in a position of power, many believed that they would work hard to keep those campaign promises. Sadly, McConnell, as Senate Majority Leader, has repeatedly failed to keep those promises, especially the promise to repeal and replace Obamacare. It seems that McConnell has been too busy bucking against President Trump than he has working to keep his promises.
This has led to a number of conservatives within the Senate to call for McConnell to step down from his leadership position. They are also calling for all of McConnell’s cronies to also step down from their positions of power so they can put those in place who will work to keep those campaign promises.
The leaders of several conservative groups called Wednesday for Mitch McConnell to step down as Senate majority leader, arguing the Kentucky Republican and the rest of his team should be ousted from their posts because they have not implemented the conservative agenda they promised.
“We call on all five members of the GOP Senate leadership to step down, or for their caucus to remove them as soon as possible,” Ken Cuccinelli, the former attorney general of Virginia who now leads the Senate Conservatives Fund, said at a Wednesday press conference on Capitol Hill.
All the leaders come from anti-Republican establishment organizations with ties to the Tea Party movement. They have long been thorns in McConnell’s side and have backed conservative challengers to Republican incumbents in Senate races. They include representatives from FreedomWorks, the Tea Party Patriots and For America…
I live in Kentucky and voted for McConnell in the past few elections, but I’m seriously thinking about voting for any Republican who dares challenge him for his Senate seat. I believe McConnell is too old school and part of the RINO swamp that needs to be drained and cleaned out. It’s time America gets some fresh blood in leadership positions who will work with President Trump to keep the promises made to the American people.
