For decades, most states have had laws forbidding teachers to have sexual relations with their students. The laws were designed to protect students from sexual predators and to stop teachers from having sex with underaged students, which in most states is a crime – statutory rape.
However, a liberal judge in Alabama took it upon himself to rule their state law that bans teacher-student sex as being unconstitutional. He likewise dismissed the charges against two teachers charged with the crime and who were facing up to 20-years in prison
In the one case, a 44-year-old teacher had sex with a 17-year-old student and an 18-year-old student. Since the judge dismissed the charge against the female teacher, she should now be charged with statutory rape of the 17-year-old and summarily imprisoned if found guilty.
