Governor Chris Christie has less than a year left on his last term in office. The liberal Republican may not be the most ardent supporter of the Second Amendment, but he’s definitely better than the anti-Second Amendment Democrats salivating over the prospect of winning the governor’s mansion in this year’s election.
In preparation of a Democratic victory, a number of the state’s Democrats have already prepared at least 20 anti-Second Amendment bills that would add New Jersey to the list of states with the strictest gun-control laws in the nation.
To date, the Democratic front runner for the governorship is Phil Murphy. He has already announced that if elected he will gladly sign all of the anti-gun bills that the state legislature sends to his desk.
Governor Chris Christie (R-NJ) will not go down in history as one of the best Governor’s our nation has ever seen.
The 2nd-half of his tenure has been particularly rocky, but interestingly, he could still be the best Governor New Jersey has had in more than 20 years. This sad realization, should immediately be met by another sad realization… as unhappy as conservatives are with Christie these days, whoever comes next in New Jersey will probably be worse… Much worse.
The possibility of electing another anti-freedom, pro-big government leftist as Governor already has state level Democrats salivating at the possibilities.
The one issue they seem to be zeroing in on is guns…
Currently, 34 of the 50 state governors are Republicans. There is 1 Independent, Gov. Bill Walker of Alaska, and only 15 Democratic governors. Democrats are hoping to gain more governorships in this year’s and next year’s elections. The success or failure of the governor races is viewed by many as the last desperate push by Democrats. If they fail to win over very many states, it could spell the end of the Democratic Party’s power in America, for a while at least.
