Trump’s Team Take Aim at Special Counsel Robert Mueller

Robert Mueller was appointed to the Special Counsel by the Justice Department to investigate the alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian interference in last year’s election. Mueller has a history of duel allegiances. He first served as Ronald Reagan’s US Attorney for the District of Massachusetts, followed by his service to George H.W. Bush as US Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division. Then Mueller served as the US Attorney for the Northern District of California (one of the most liberal areas of the nation) under Bill Clinton. That was followed by his service to George W. Bush as US Deputy Attorney General and then under Barack Obama as the Director of the FBI. Many appearances today seem to indicate that Mueller could still be more loyal to Obama and the Democrats than to Donald Trump. Now the Trump team is looking into allegations that Mueller is guilty of conflicts of interest and questioning Trump’s authority to issue pardons, a practice carried by most Presidents.

Some of President Trump’s lawyers are exploring ways to limit or undercut special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s Russia investigation, building a case against what they allege are his conflicts of interest and discussing the president’s authority to grant pardons, according to people familiar with the effort.

Trump has asked his advisers about his power to pardon aides, family members and even himself in connection with the probe, according to one of those people. A second person said Trump’s lawyers have been discussing the president’s pardoning powers among themselves.

One adviser said the president has simply expressed a curiosity in understanding the reach of his pardoning authority, as well as the limits of Mueller’s investigation.

“This is not in the context of, ‘I can’t wait to pardon myself,’ ” a close adviser said…

It seems that many believe that fired FBI Director James Comey has been working in collusion with Mueller in hopes of being able to nail Donald Trump or any member of his campaign for any possible crime they can manage to dig. Note that Barack Obama committed more crimes than all of the previous presidents combines, and yet we never saw anything close to the Mueller investigation on Obama. Truly a double standard, slanted in favor of Democrats.
