New York Mayor Bill de Blasio has never been a real friend and supporter of the New York Police Department. He has openly criticized police in the past and has failed to support them on several matters. This past week, de Blasio missed the swearing in of the latest class of police academy graduate and the vigil for murdered police officer Miosotis Familia, just so he could fly to Germany to protest President Trump at the G-20 Summit meeting.
Ed Mullins, the head of the Sergeants Benevolent Association, criticized Hizzoner for the timing of the jaunt as the city mourned Officer Miosotis Familia.
“(Police) assassinations are very difficult to stop,” Mullins said on John Catsimatidis’ “Cats Roundtable” radio program on AM 970. “But what we can do to make a difference is kill the atmosphere that has been created across this country and in the City of New York. We have a very anti-police atmosphere … Where we are failing is in political leadership.” …
De Blasio is not fit to hold the office of mayor of any city due to his constant dissing and comments about law enforcement in his city. It makes one wonder how many members of New York’s Police Department would willingly take a bullet and sacrifice his or her life to save de Blasio from attack? I know there are probably some members of the NYPD that would step aside and allow the cop hating mayor to get his due.
