Over the weekend, the nation was horrified to hear about the semi-trailer with 39 illegal immigrants latched inside, that was discovered in a Walmart parking lot in San Antonio. So far, 10 illegals have died and over a dozen more remain in the hospital as they were found to have no water as they roasted inside the trailer. Authorities have reviewed surveillance camera footage and learned that the trailer may have been carrying as many as 100 illegals. After it arrived in the parking lot, footage showed that vehicles arrived and took a number of the illegals away, but 39 were left behind to cook to death in the intense heat. The driver of the truck was located and has been charged with transporting illegal aliens. He should face more charges, but he is claiming he had no knowledge of what he was hauling in the trailer.
Federal prosecutors have charged a Florida man with “transporting illegal aliens” after at least 10 people died crammed into the back of a tractor-trailer in San Antonio. The truck, which had been parked in a Walmart parking lot in blistering heat, contained 39 people in total, all of whom were immigrants in the U.S. illegally.
James Matthew Bradley Jr., 60, “unlawfully transported aliens in violation of law, resulting in the death of ten of the aliens transported,” the Department of Justice said in a statement. “The tenth alien, an adult male, died overnight at a hospital.”
In Bradley’s first court appearance Monday, U.S. Magistrate Judge Elizabeth Chestney said the crime could result in the death penalty, if Bradley is convicted…
I know a number of long-haul truck drivers, in fact my brother-in-law was a truck driver and they always had to carry a manifest of what they were hauling. At regular check stations, they have to produce the manifest and sometimes they are even asked to open their trailers for inspection. I find the claim of ignorance of what he was hauling to be extremely hard to believe.
