When President Donald Trump nominated Sen. Jeff Sessions to be the US Attorney General, many conservatives including myself, believed he was a good fit for Trump. Sessions is quite conservative on many issues and had a good background for the job. Once he was approved by the Senate and sworn in, Sessions got to work undoing a number of Obama’s harmful and anti-American policies. However, if appears that Trump fully expected to Sessions to conduct a thorough investigation into Hillary Clinton and her email scandal. Apparently, Sessions believes he has more important things to do than continue the investigation started by former FBI Director James Comey and Trump isn’t happy about it.
A bevy of congressional Republicans are warning President Trump not to move against Attorney General Jeff Sessions in what many fear could be a prelude to the dismissal of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, who is probing Trump’s ties to Russia.
Trump’s public criticism of Sessions has mounted in recent days, starting with a tweet Saturday morning asking why Sessions and Mueller have not investigated alleged “crimes” by former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and by former FBI director James B. Comey, and culminating in a tweet early Tuesday accusing Sessions of taking “a VERY weak position” on investigating Clinton and leakers of intelligence secrets.
The attack Tuesday prompted an outpouring of support for Sessions among his former colleagues in the Senate, where he served for 20 years before resigning to become attorney general, and left scores of other Republicans aghast at Trump’s willingness to attack one of his most loyal campaign supporters…
Many in America like Trump because he’s not a politician, but Trump does need to learn some basic politics including patience and how to work with others. He isn’t running one of his reality ‘you’re fired’ shows, meaning he has to learn that there is a time, place and way to get things done and he’ll only dig himself into a deep hole if he continues firing everyone instead of working with them.
