White House Not Ruling Out Blocking Comey Testimony

At a recent White House press briefing, Sean Spicer did not deny rumors that President Trump may be contemplating using executive privilege to prevent fired FBI Director James Comey from testifying before the Senate Intelligence Committee. Barack Obama used executive privilege more than once to block Eric Holder from testifying or to block Holder or others from turning over subpoenaed documents.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer did not rule out President Trump’s option to block former FBI Director James Comey from testifying before a congressional committee next week.

At the daily White House press briefing Friday, Spicer was asked whether Trump would seek executive privilege to prevent Comey from testifying before the Senate Intelligence Committee on June 8.

“That committee hearing was just noticed – it’s gotta be reviewed,” Spicer said. “The date for the hearing was just set. I haven’t spoken to counsel yet, I don’t know how they’ll respond.” …

If Trump does block Comey from testifying, Democrats will be screaming that he’s guilty and trying to hide it, yet they sat silently when Obama did the same thing. Nothing is fair in the eyes of Democrats unless they have everything they want. They cannot tolerate anyone getting the best of them or even using the same tactics they use.
