For over 50 years, the United States had strong sanctions against Cuba and the dictatorial communist regime of Fidel Castro. Barak Obama went out of his way to befriend a number of enemy nations while making enemies of some of our best allies. Without the permission of Congress, Obama opened up relations with Cuba. He also opened up travel and trade with Cuba. President Trump is rolling back some of what Obama opened up with Cuba.
President Trump, speaking at a Miami theater associated with Cuban exiles, announced Friday he is nixing his predecessor’s “one-sided deal” with the Communist nation – moving to restrict individual travel to the island, crack down on the flow of U.S. cash to the Cuban military and demand key reforms in Havana.
While stopping short of a full reversal, Trump said he would challenge Cuba to come back to the table with a new agreement.
“Effective immediately, I am canceling the last administration’s completely one-sided deal with Cuba,” Trump told a cheering crowd…
Obama ignored the way Cuba oppressed its people and kept most of the poor. I’ve talked to people who were jailed, tortured and beaten before escaping to the United States. The one man’s crime was just questioning a government policy. Another man’s crime was criticizing the Cuban government. Obama didn’t care about the Cuban people, except trying to win the votes of many of them that were already here in the US.
