Portland Attacker was Sanders/Stein Supporter, Not a Conservative as Many Accused

On Friday, May 26, a man, Jeremy Joseph Christian, on a commuter train in Portland, Oregon, began yelling anti-Muslim insults at two women. Several men tried to intervene and stop the rant, but Christian pulled out a knife to defend himself. He ended up stabbing three men, killing two and wounding the other. Christian was subsequently subdued, arrested and charged with multiple crimes, including two counts of aggravated murder.

The liberal mainstream media and Democrats all over the nation instantly accused Christian as being an alt-right Trump loving conservative and used the incident to condemn all conservatives and Republicans.

The liberal outcry against right-wing conservatives has been great. One of the Democrats making the accusations of Christian being an alt-right hater and bigot is Portland’s 54-year-old mayor, Ted Wheeler. In response to the stabbings by Christian Wheeler was asked federal authorities and organizer officials to cancel a Trump Free Speech Rally scheduled for this weekend.

Wheeler stated the reason for wanting to cancel the free speech rally:

“There is never a place for bigotry or hatred in our community, and especially not now.”

On Facebook, Wheeler posted:

“3) I am calling on the federal government to IMMEDIATELY REVOKE the permit(s) they have issued for the June 4th event and to not issue a permit for June 10th. Our city is in mourning our community’s anger is real and the timing and subject of these events can only exacerbate an already difficult situation.”

A growing number of Democrats have been going out of their way to find ways to trample on the First Amendment rights of conservatives. Many universities have stopped free speech. Some created free speech zones, usually in a low traffic area on campus and even then the person must get approval from the liberal school administrators, who don’t always give their permission to speak freely. More recently, the speaking event of conservative news commentator Ann Coulter was cancelled at the University of California at Berkeley, because liberals threatened violence.

The same can be said for Portland Mayor Wheeler in his anxious desire to force the cancellation of the Trump Free Speech Rally this weekend. He has already labeled the people planning on attending the rally as being haters and bigots and therefore does not want to allow the rally to happen.

However, blaming the cancellation on an alt-right conservative like Christian is a false allegation.

Christian is NOT a Trump supporter by any means. In fact, according to posts on Christian’s Facebook page, he was a supporter of a Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein ticket. Sanders is a registered Democrat but openly admits to being a Socialist who gave Hillary Clinton a run for the Party’s presidential nomination last year. Stein was the candidate with the Green Party. Neither of them can be classified as being conservative, especially of being alt-right wing extremists, as Christian has been falsely accused.

Here are three of Christian’s Facebook posts:

“(November 11, 2016) Just want all my FB Peeps to know I could not bring myself to vote Trump like I said I would. I abstained from voting for the first time in my adult life My vote would not have done anything for anyone.”

“January 23, 2017) Death to Hillary Rodham Clinton and all her supporters!!! To be carried out by Bernie Supporters who didn’t turn traitor and vote Hillary…”

“January 25, 2017) Sanders/Stein 2017!!! Let’s stop these pipelines and reign in the Prison/Military Industrial Complexes!!! We the People have the right (As enshrined in our Constitution) to change any government by any means necessary!!! If Not Today Then Tomorrow!!!”

From his own words, Christian was NOT a right-wing extremist Trump supporter. He hated Trump nearly as much as he hated Clinton. He supported the socialist Sanders and by his rant against the prison/military industrial complexes, Christian must also have been a socialist, whether he realized it or not.

To use him as the excuse to shut down a free speech rally is wrong no matter how you look at it and the actions of Mayor Wheeler are wrong, but typical of Democrats determined to deny Trump supporters and conservatives of their constitutional right of free speech.
