Liberal Hate Group Trying to Destroy Legal Ministry Because of Their Christian Faith

In the heart of the Obama era, a liberal or should I say, progressive socialist group known as the Southern Poverty Law Center published a list of what they deemed to be ‘hate groups’. On that list were most of the prominent conservative and Christian organizations in America.

According to their website:

“The SPLC is dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our society. Using litigation, education, and other forms of advocacy, the SPLC works toward the day when the ideals of equal justice and equal opportunity will be a reality.”

They define hate groups as:

“All hate groups have beliefs or practices that attack or malign an entire class of people, typically for their immutable characteristics.”

“This list was compiled using hate group publications and websites, citizen and law enforcement reports, field sources and news reports. Groups that appear in the center of states represent statewide groups.”

“Hate group activities can include criminal acts, marches, rallies, speeches, meetings, leafleting or publishing.”

Their hypocrisy is obvious as many groups that made their list simply preach biblical truth or are conservatives who oppose the liberal agenda of Democrats. Anyone who is anti-LGBT, anti-Muslim, anti-communist and anti-socialist will most likely be on the list of hate groups or soon will be. For example, groups on their list of hate groups include Citizens for Community Values, American Family Council, Concerned Women for America, Conservative Republicans of Texas, D. James Kennedy Ministries, Family Research Institute, Family Watch International, Illinois Family Institute, Pacific Justice Institute, Pass the Salt Ministries, Pilgrims Covenant Church, Christian Revival Center, Christian American Ministries, Israel United for Christ and Liberty Counsel.

Sadly, during Obama’s reign, many liberal sources and government agencies used the SPLC list of hate groups to attack and discriminate against conservative and Christian groups. At one point, the Defense Department used the SPLC hate group list as part of their personnel training. Many conservatives like myself reported on what the military was doing.

The Army ignored all of our blogs and continued to tell its soldiers that people like me belong to hate groups and should be targets in the event of any civil unrest.  Our blogs by themselves did not carry enough impact to cause the Army to take any corrective action.

When Fox News reporter Todd Starnes did an exclusive news story on an Army briefing that recently took place at Camp Shelby in Mississippi, soldiers attending the briefing were told that the American Family Association was a domestic hate group. Then and only then did the Army stop using the SPLC list of hate groups.

The SPLC not only lists conservative and Christian groups as hate groups, but they also take action to try to destroy them for their conservative and Christian beliefs. One of the groups they targeted is the Liberty Counsel. According to Liberty Counsel’s website:

“Liberty Counsel is a Christian ministry that proclaims, advocates, supports, advances, and defends the good news that God in the person of Jesus Christ paid the penalty for our sins and offers forgiveness and eternal life to all who accept him as Lord and Savior. Every ministry and project of Liberty Counsel centers around and is based upon this good news, which is also referred to as the gospel. Liberty Counsel is a corporate expression of Christian believers who profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and join together in regular prayer, study of the Bible, praise and worship. Liberty Counsel has a Doctrinal Statement and a Worldview Statement affirmed by every employee, staff member, and person who works for or represents the ministry.”

“We embrace a worldview that is historically Christian and biblical. We believe that God exists and is the Creator and source of all things, all truth, all knowledge, all value, and all wisdom. We believe God designed an orderly universe and that every human being is created in the image of God. No matter their stage or status in life, each person has intrinsic value and rights. We believe that God is actively at work in the world and has been at work throughout history. From these foundational principles it follows that truth exists and there is a standard of right and wrong. We believe that God has revealed himself and his ways in the natural created order, in history, in the Bible, and supremely in Jesus Christ. We believe that all of creation is fallen as a result of human sin. But God in love and through the sacrificial life and redemptive work of Jesus Christ provides forgiveness and eternal life to all who accept him.”

“Our comprehensive worldview provides the foundation for every affiliated ministry, program, and project. These include, but are not limited to, (1) Liberty Counsel, an international litigation, education, and policy ministry; (2) Liberty Counsel Action, a ministry focused on education and public policy; (3) Liberty Prayer Network, an international prayer ministry; (4) Liberty Relief International, an international humanitarian ministry to persecuted Christians and religious minorities; (5) Pastors and Patriots, a ministry to pastors, churches, and nonprofit ministries; (6) Christians in Defense of Israel, a ministry centered around Israel and the Jewish people; and (7) Covenant Journey, a ministry to Christian college age students who have leadership potential, designed to strengthen their Christian faith and their support of Israel.”

In 2000, Lisa Miller and Janet Jenkins moved to Vermont to take advantage of their same-sex laws to be joined in a civil union.  In 2002, Lisa gave birth to a daughter that was conceived through artificial insemination.  Lisa Miller became a Christian and denounced the lesbian lifestyle and in 2003, the couple spit up.

A judge awarded custody of the daughter to Lisa Miller, the birth mother, along with visitation rights to Janet Jenkins.  Lisa’s Christian convictions about the sinfulness of homosexuality led her to defy the court ordered visitations on numerous occasions over the next few years.

Janet took Lisa to court in 2009 over the custody issue and a liberal judge ignored Lisa’s rights as birth mother and her religious rights as a Christian and turned the custody of the daughter over Janet who was still a practicing lesbian.

Liberty Counsel had represented Miller in the 2009 case, but has not represented her since. After losing custody of her daughter, Miller fled the country with her daughter, prompting liberal officials to issue a warrant for her arrest.

Now, Jenkins, with the help of the SPLC, have filed a lawsuit against Liberty Counsel, over the disappearance of Lisa Miller and her daughter, even though the Christian legal group has not had any legal dealings or representation of Miller since the 2009 hearing.

Mat Staver, Founder of Liberty Counsel, has filed a 106-page statement in response to the lawsuit, showing that there are no grounds for the lawsuit and it is a frivolous case. He explained the purpose behind the lawsuit:

“The case is absolutely crystal clear. There’s no facts, there’s no law that gives any basis for us to be included as defendants, and we have filed this response dismantling frankly every one of their allegations. They have absolutely no proof that Liberty Counsel had any knowledge or any involvement in Lisa Miller’s disappearance in 2009.”

“There’s no question here what the SPLC’s agenda is. They want to harass, and they want to destroy. I can tell you what: We’re not intimidated, and we have fought back with an incredible counterpunch.”

It’s one thing to slander and libel an organization for their Christian beliefs, but to actively work to destroy them is pure hateful intolerance for anyone who doesn’t hold the same the liberal views as they do. It just goes to show which organization is the true hate group – Southern Poverty Law Center!
