Johnny Depp Claims Trump Assassination Comment Just a Joke

An Illinois man was just arrested for threatening to assassinate President Donald Trump. Earlier this week, famed actor Johnny Depp asked: ‘when was the last time an actor assassinated a president?’ He followed that up by suggesting that it was about time, giving the clear impression that he was suggesting that Trump be assassinated. Had that anyone said that about Obama, they would have been labeled a racist and arrested. After a ton of backlash, Depp now apologies and says it was just a joke.

Johnny Depp has issued an apology for a controversial comment about President Donald Trump, asking, “When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?”

“It did not come out as intended, and I intended no malice. I was only trying to amuse, not to harm anyone,” the actor said in a statement to People on Friday.

Depp’s joke, in reference to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth in 1865, was made during an appearance at the Glastonbury Festival. “I want to qualify, I am not an actor. I lie for a living,” he added at the U.K. music festival. “However, it has been a while and maybe it is time.” …

When Depp said what he did, it did not sound like a joke. ONLY after the backlash, did he apologize and claim it was a joke. The sad part is that some radical whacko who heard Depp’s statement will try to take him up on it and some innocent person or law enforcement personnel will get hurt or killed in the process. Hopefully, his poor choice of words will be enough to destroy his career; similar to what is happening to Kathy Griffin after her obscene stunt.
