James Comey began his political career as a Republican, but in 2016, he changed to Independent. In 2013, he took over as Director of the FBI after being appointed to the position by Barack Obama. His ability to run the FBI may have been adequate for the Obama administration, but in the past week or so, they have not been adequate for the Trump administration. After seemingly contradicting himself or being confused on matters he should have been well versed, President Trump took the advice of others in his administration and fired Comey.
President Trump on Wednesday defended his decision to fire FBI Director James Comey, saying he “wasn’t doing a good job.”
Trump’s comments were in response to reporters asking him at the White House why he fired Comey on Tuesday evening.
“Very simply, he was not doing a good job,” Trump continued.
Earlier in the day, Trump used Twitter to defend his decision and fire back at Democrats who condemned the firing, while also arguing that Democrats have been among Comey’s harshest critics…
Prior to President Trump firing James Comey, many of the top Democrats were demanding he resign or be fired. After Trump fired him, they immediately began screaming foul and that Comey was fired as part of a Trump cover-up over the investigation into possible Russian election tampering. Democrats got what they asked for and then complained when they got it. It’s obvious that nothing will make them happy.
