Washington politics is a nasty and bitter give and take. At least that is the way it used to be. For the past 8 years, it’s been all take by Democrats and all give by Republicans. That’s what happened with the $1 trillion spending bill to keep the government running till September. Amidst a lot of flak from conservatives, President Trump defended giving in to the Democrats in order to get the bill passed.
President Trump on Tuesday defended the controversial $1 trillion-plus budget deal heading for a vote – as he and congressional Republicans face conservative anger at what critics see as a cave to Democrats on everything from sanctuary cities to funding for Planned Parenthood.
“The reason for the plan negotiated between the Republicans and Democrats is that we need 60 votes in the Senate which are not there!” Trump tweeted, adding that the solution is to elect more Republican senators in 2018 “or change the rules” of the Senate filibuster…
He added a warning shot: “Our country needs a good ‘shutdown’ in September to fix mess!”
I agree with Trump when he suggested that if things don’t change come September, that a government shutdown may be what’s needed and to make sure that the Democrats are fully blamed for trying to hold the government hostage.
