Democrats wanted FBI Director James Comey gone. Trump fired Comey and Democrats cried foul, claiming firing was to cover-up and hinder investigation of possible Russia election interference. President Trump says he fully supports the FBI investigation of Russia, still calling it a made-up story. Meanwhile, remaining FBI officials say the firing of Comey will not hinder, slow or deter the investigation of Russia and the Trump campaign.
President Trump said Thursday that he wants the FBI investigation into possible ties between members of his campaign and Russian officials to be “absolutely done properly,” shortly after he called it a “made-up story” and “an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election they should have won.”
Trump also told NBC News that he had decided to fire FBI Director James Comey before he received a recommendation to do so from a top Justice Department official.
“I was going to fire regardless of recommendation,” Trump said in an interview with “NBC Nightly News.” “Regardless of recommendation, I was going to fire Comey, knowing there was no good time to do it.”…
What many liberal Democrats are ignoring is that the Justice Department recommended that Comey be fired. Trump had already been considering removing Comey because of his ‘showboating’ and inconsistencies in his testimonies concerning the Hillary Clinton email scandal. Democrats also forget that several months into Bill Clinton’s first term in office that he fired his FBI director.
