Oregon Politician Who Bullied Christian Bakery Loses Election

Brad Avakian played a large role in the 2013 persecution of Aaron and Melissa Klein, owners of Sweet Cakes by Melissa. A lesbian couple intentionally targeted the bakery, knowing the owners were Christians. After asking for the bakery to make a wedding cake for the same-sex marriage, the Kleins refused and explained that it would violate their faith. They also recommended another bakery. The lesbians filed a lawsuit and Avakian helped persecute the Kleins who ended up being slapped with a $400,000 fine.

Okay, I don’t actually believe in karma, but for lack of better words, I couldn’t help but think that about an Oregon bureaucrat who bullied a Christian bakery, and then lost an election.

For the first time since 2002, a Republican was elected in Oregon to a statewide office. Brad Avakian, Labor Commissioner, was beat out for the Secretary of State position by Republican Dennis Richardson.

BOOY-YA! Avakian was essentially TOO liberal for one of America’s most liberal states. Oh, the irony!

One should not wish bad for anyone, even an enemy, but when it comes to elections, you can’t help but want a more conservative person with better values to defeat a flaming liberal who cares nothing for a person’s Christian views. It doesn’t cause me any pain or discomfort to learn that Avakain lost his election for Secretary of State and may now have to actually work for a living.
