How serious is the situation with North Korea? Admiral Harry B. Harris Jr., Commander of the US Pacific Command, says the situation with North Korea is the worst he has ever seen. Speaking to the Senate Armed Services Committee, Harris said it’s only a matter of time before North Korean will have the ability to send ballistic missiles armed with nuclear warheads to the United States mainland. He also said that Hawaii is in serious danger of being attacked first.
The senior U.S. Navy officer overseeing military operations in the Pacific region told lawmakers Thursday that the North Korean crisis is the worst he’s seen — testifying that it’s only a matter of time before Kim Jong Un has the capability of launching a nuclear warhead toward the United States.
“The crisis on the Korean peninsula is real—the worst I’ve seen,” said Commander of U.S. Pacific Command Adm. Harry B. Harris Jr. “There is some doubt within the intelligence community whether Kim Jong Un has that capability today or whether he will soon, but I have to assume he has it, the capability is real, and that he’s moving towards it.”
Harris spoke to the Senate Armed Services Committee a day after all 100 U.S. senators were invited to White House grounds for a North Korea briefing.
Basically, North Korean Dictator Kim Jong-Un is a power hungry spoiled child who wants to be the center of attention and is determined to use whatever means he can to accomplish that goal. That makes him unpredictable and extremely dangerous. Personally, I believe the US needs more than one carrier task force in the region, plus we need to provide missile interceptors to Hawaii and provide similar protection to Japan, Philippines and South Korea. If Kim does launch a nuclear attack against anyone, Trump needs to be ready to obliterate North Korea.
