North Korea Arrests American at Airport

North Korea may be starting a new tactic to try to force President Donald Trump’s hand in the tense situation in the region. The reported of arrest of an American university accounting professor makes three Americans being held by the hostile dictatorship. Could it be that Dictator Kim Jong-Un is hoping to be able to use American captives as pawns to prevent any aggressive responses or retaliation by President Trump? Could this mean that North Korea is about to take some kind of action that would warrant a reaction from the US?

North Korea has detained a United States citizen, the Swedish Embassy in Pyongyang and a university chancellor said Sunday, raising the number of Americans thought to be held by the secretive nation to three.

The arrest, if confirmed, would further complicate Washington’s relations with the country at a particularly tense moment.

The man, Tony Kim, who also goes by his Korean name, Kim Sang-duk, was detained on Saturday, Park Chan-mo, the chancellor of Pyongyang University of Science and Technology, told The Associated Press.

North Korea has a history of arresting and detaining citizens from other nations. With or without any evidence, they find charges to justify the arrests in their own minds. If North Korea does take any military action against South Korea, Japan, Philippines or the US, will the 3 Americans being held prevent Trump from responding with military force?
